A superb and exceptionally rare example of an original Imperial Japanese Navy Type 90 combat helmet, complete with its wartime camouflage net and cloth helmet cover. This is undoubtedly one of the finest naval helmets we have handled, remaining in pristine condition throughout.
The steel shell retains nearly all of its original factory-applied paint, with a rare metal naval badge affixed to the front. The original cloth helmet cover, featuring a stitched naval cloth badge, is intact and remains stiff when upturned—a strong indicator of authenticity. The camouflage net, carefully removed for authentication, allowed access to the interior of the cover, confirming its originality.
Internally, the helmet is equally impressive. The full leather liner is present, complete with its original pads and fully intact webbing chinstrap. Painted inside the crown in white are the numerals "9585" along with two distinct sections of Japanese kanji, which remain untranslated.
This is a truly outstanding, textbook example of a Japanese Navy combat helmet, complete with all original components—a rare find in this exceptional state of preservation.
