This obsolete calibre, well-preserved and fully matching example of the classic .36 calibre six-shot display piece associated with Union service during the American Civil War; numbered 16246 throughout, including the cylinder marked 246. The cylinder retains faint remnants of its original light engraving—now worn with age but still partially visible. The barrel top bears a clearly stamped Samuel Colt New York address, deeply struck and easily legible.
Mechanically sound; the revolving action remains crisp, with clean function and a smooth-operating trigger. All screws appear original and undisturbed. The wooden grips are undamaged, displaying a consistent tone and finish throughout. The loading rammer functions properly and sits firmly in place. Overall, this is a fine and representative display piece from one of the most iconic sidearms of the American Civil War period.
