A highly significant and historical grouping of paperwork, insignia, and medals belonging to Michael McKeogh and his wife Pearlie Hargrave. McKeogh served as General Eisenhower’s enlisted aide and orderly throughout the entire war, playing a pivotal role in supporting the General—from waking him in the morning to ensuring his uniforms were in perfect order—helping make Eisenhower’s life as stress-free as possible during critical operations such as the Invasion of Sicily and Operation Overlord in Normandy. Michael’s detailed experiences are chronicled in his included autobiography.

Pearlie Hargrave, one of Eisenhower’s drivers, and Michael fell in love and married in Belgium in December 1944, with General Eisenhower himself walking Pearlie down the aisle.

This unique collection includes a named Bronze Star medal to Michael, a copy of Sergeant Mickey and General Ike by Michael McKeogh, numerous passes and vouchers granting access to the Headquarters of Supreme Allied Command, original Army Signal Corps photographs of the couple’s wedding, and wartime correspondence. Also featured is a one-of-a-kind photograph of then-President Eisenhower with Michael, Pearlie, and the First Lady.

Additional items include Michael’s insignia group, Class A pass to Headquarters Washington DC, a 1943 vehicle exemption document from the Provost Marshal’s office, multiple movement and travel orders, a congratulatory letter from the American Embassy in London, and several letters stamped ‘U.S. SECRET’ from Allied Force Headquarters North Africa.

This grouping offers an extraordinary insight into the personal life and duties surrounding one of WWII’s highest commanders.
