A very good condition U.S. M1C Airborne pattern helmet. The Airborne liner is complete with its web chinstrap assembly and web chin cup, both components dated 1964 and 1967. The outer shell is fitted with a U.S. Marine Corps “frog skin” camouflage cover, featuring its integral mosquito net. The net is tucked between the shell and liner but can be extended for use—an increasingly rare feature.
These covers were originally produced in the latter stages of World War II, saw some use during the Korean War, and were later reissued during the Vietnam War as surplus stock. Numerous period photos show these specific covers worn by U.S. Marines, particularly during the Battle of Hue in 1968.
Although it may seem unusual to see Airborne pattern helmets used by Marine units, photographic evidence confirms this occurred in combat. Interest in Vietnam-era helmets—especially those with camouflage covers—continues to grow.
Important: This helmet has been left untouched since the war era. Any interference with the fitted cover (especially removal) will permanently affect the historical integrity of the item. Therefore, returns will not be accepted if the configuration is altered in any way.
