RUSSIAN/GERMAN WWII RUSSIAN GERMAN LUFTSCHUTZ HELMET

A super example of a Russian WWII combat helmet, the model known as the SSH/40. Many of these helmets were captured by German forces in their lightning advance into Russia, and many helmets were pressed into German service; this is a prime example. Repainted in Luftschutz blue from its Russian green, of which the traces remain on the inside upper inner bowl, with the addition of the Luftschutz insignia. Slight rust bleed to the crown dome of the helmet, otherwise excellent paint with its three pad canvas liner having its inner cushion pads, padding with cotton wool, and its canvas buckled chinstrap. A helmet in excellent condition.
