A well-preserved pickelhaube, size ‘55½’, with the size pencilled inside the leather skull. Both front and rear peaks are firmly attached. All fittings—including the back strap, large cruciform spike base, removable smooth spike, front plate marked with the letters ‘FR’, domed chin scales, and front peak trim—are crafted in white metal.

The cockades are high-quality officer’s national and state examples. The front plate features an officer’s cut-out crown, complemented by a pearl ring beneath the spike and domed fittings on the cruciform base. Inside, the light tan leather sweatband shows only minor wear, while the cream silk inner liner remains intact, albeit slightly worn. The interior skull retains excellent original color and bears a pencilled owner’s name.

A fine example of a Prussian official’s pickelhaube, possibly from the veterinary department.
