JAPANESE WWII TYPE 98 SHIN GUNTO OFFICERS DISPLAY PIECE

A fabulous near-mint officer sword with stunning fittings. One crease on the scabbard, but otherwise a very nice finish. Good gilt remains on the tsuba and is accompanied by its officer's sword knot. Beautiful blade with full write-up. The sword also has its bring-back paperwork, as shown, and a photograph of the Japanese officer surrendering his sword. The katana has a full write-up from renowned expert Bill Tagg.
