A fabulous example of a Japanese WWII officers katana, produced circa 1934 to 36, pre war quality, tang never signed, having an Arsenal stamp. The blade is of an extremely high quality. Standard army cross guard (tsuba). Good gilt remaining to fittings. The wrap to the ray skin grip is absolutely perfect. Complete with its Major’s or Colonel’s brown orange rank tassel. The blade is 26 inches long with the sword being full length 32 ¼ inches long. Accompanying the sword is its original issue sword bag and a very comprehensive description of the sword by Liverpool Militaria, Bill Tagg of Liverpool Military, highly regarded in the U.K. as one of the leading experts on Japanese swords.
