A Japanese Wakazashi with a 56 cm blade. Nice condition, one minor crease at the lower end of the blade, with its Wakazashi hilt fittings, the hilt itself being 14cm long. Some gold is still visible on the fittings on the lower grip and underneath the cloth binding to the hilt, known as the menuki. Some piercing to the iron tsuba, which in itself is circular in form. All fitted into its wooden scabbard, which has its own very nice condition combat leather cover. The three press studs that hold the cover closed are still operational. The long leather tab, which passes through a pre-cut form in the tsuba that holds the hilt into the scabbard, is still intact and working correctly. These shortened swords in combat covers were taken with the pilots into the aeroplanes before their Kamikaze attacks.
