A rare sword produced for the last-ditch attempt at repelling the expected invasion of Japan by the allies forces in late 1945. Most of the swords at this time were destroyed as weapons of no artistic value. There are photographs of many weapons, mainly swords, being shovelled into furnesses. Excellent blade with a cutting edge of 25 inches. This sword was produced in August 1945, one of the last swords made during the war with Japan. There is a family Mon being 5 punched rings on the blade collar, known as the Habak. Pierced brass crossguards (tsuba). Cloth wrapping to the hilt is all good but very basic. A leather-covered wooden scabbard. A hugely extensively written description accompanies this sword by the well respected Liverpool Japanese sword dealer, Bill Tagg, with a drawing of the blade. Photocopies of the long signature on the tang.
