JAPANESE WWII BODY ARMOUR SEGMENTED

We have recently been fortunate to obtain three individual armoured bulletproof vests worn by Japanese forces in WWII. This example is a sleeveless vest with plates of steel sewn into segments 3cm square. Viewing the vest there is one extra steel plate in an open pocket in the heart area. Japanese kanji lettering is hand-applied to the pocket. The steel plate, which is covered in Japanese brushed cotton material is removable from the pocket. The item overall is in good condition; it has signs of age, staining and discolouration. It still has its three securing tapes on either side of the vest, possibly a private purchase item. This would be an excellent display on a Japanese infantry mannequin of WWII.
