JAPANESE ARMY OFFICERS PARADE DISPLAY PIECE

The 1875 and 1886 swords were the first swords to be introduced to the Japanese Armed Forces in the Western style (Kyu Gunto) Type 8. Excellent mint, bright blade with a single fuller. The D-shaped hilt is nicely gilded with pierced and open foliate and cherry blossom designs. The grip is celluloid with its original wire wrap. A bright plated scabbard, undented, with good plating visible and its correct all-gold portapee knot.
