This is a rare and well-preserved Italian black silk banner, measuring 56 cm x 45 cm. Unlike the more common civil or agricultural banners, this example is associated with a veterans' organisation, specifically a Fascio Di Combattimento branch.
The banner is constructed from high-quality black silk which remains in excellent condition. It is still attached to its original wooden carrying pole and retains its original side hanging tassels and gold-fringed base. The central feature is the Fascist insignia applied in a faded gilt finish. Above the insignia, the text reads Fascio Di Combattimento, while the gold embroidery below identifies the specific location as Castel di Piano.
Given the specific military-style titling, this banner was almost certainly used by WWI veterans who transitioned into the political movements of the inter-war period. The survival of the original mounting hardware and tassels makes this a particularly complete and desirable example of Italian political and regimental-style vexillology.
