GERMAN WWII WOUND BADGE IN SILVER CITATION FOR REGIMENT HOCH-UND.DEUTSCHMEISTER

A rare award A5 size citation, folded once, a pair of documents, Wound Badge in silver with the full definition of the unit on the second line, dated ‘20th September 44’ with a doctor’s ink signature, accompanied by the Infantry Assault Badge in silver dated ‘30th July 1944’ with the ink signature of the Regimental Commander with the unit issue stamp. The Hoch-Und-Deutschmeister Regiment was named after one of the most famous regiments of the former Imperial Austrian Army. After being destroyed at Stalingrad, it was re-formed in June 43 as the 44th Hoch Und Deutschmeister Infantry Division and sent to Monte Cassino in November. After spending 1944 in Italy, it was transferred again back to the Eastern Front to take part in the German Plattensee Offensive to relieve Budapest.
