A superb and virtually unworn example of the German Army’s 2nd pattern tropical tunic, issued to an artillery Leutnant. This late-war piece is in excellent condition throughout and of a generous upper medium size—ideal for mannequin display or advanced collection.
Constructed in the standard 2nd pattern configuration, the tunic features four non-pleated pockets with flaps, five-button front closure, and an open-collar design. The adjustable button cuffs are intact, though both internal cuff adjuster buttons are absent. All original late-war dark blue-grey buttons remain fitted.
The insignia arrangement is both regulation and historically interesting. It is equipped with subdued grey-laced slip-on shoulder boards for an artillery lieutenant, and rare late-war Bevo-woven collar tabs featuring red artillery centres—both applied using identical yarn to the tunic’s base cloth, suggesting factory-level finish. The breast eagle is the earlier 1st pattern tropical Bevo type in light blue on tan, cross-hatch stitched to the chest—a classic example of late-war use of earlier insignia stock.
Internally, the tunic is profusely marked with RB numbers, full size stampings, and the designation ‘WH 44,’ indicating Wehrmacht issue in 1944. A well-preserved and highly detailed late-war officer’s tunic, notable for its mix of transitional elements and rare insignia.
