An exceptional and completely original example of a German WWII Technische Nothilfe (Teno) man’s display piece, showcasing fine craftsmanship and well-preserved detail throughout. The lightly etched surface features the clear Eickhorn maker’s mark along with the iconic Teno eagle and swastika emblem. Serial number 5584 is faint but readable, correctly matched to the number on the upper scabbard throat—an important feature for authenticity. The piece fits securely into its original black-painted scabbard, which displays typical age-related lines that enhance its period character.
The upper hilt retains a high level of its original plating, with only minor surface bubbling and no significant deterioration. The white celluloid grips are clean, intact, and show no damage. The crossguard eagle remains well-defined, with much of the original blackened finish still present in the recessed areas. It is accompanied by its original brown leather hanger and fully functional metal clip, marked by Assmann. The securing strap, often damaged on similar items, is in excellent condition. The plating on the scabbard mount closely matches that of the hilt, and all screws remain original and undisturbed.
A well-preserved and highly desirable piece, perfect for display in a historical collection or as part of a broader study of WWII-era German organizations.
