An exceptionally rare and beautifully preserved example of the early field grey Waffen-SS officer’s tunic, worn by an SS-Untersturmführer of SS-Division “Deutschland.” This tunic represents the seldom-seen pre-war adaptation of the black Allgemeine-SS pattern, tailored in field grey for wear during field operations in the formative years of the Waffen-SS.

Constructed in high-quality wool, the tunic follows the standard four-button front closure, with deep turnback cuffs and the distinctive skirted rear panels of the Allgemeine cut. Silver officer’s piping lines the collar, which is adorned with a matched set of Waffen-SS officer’s collar tabs—featuring the classic SS runes and rank tab for an Untersturmführer. The tunic is fitted with field grey stitch-in shoulder boards on red and black underlay, denoting assignment to an SS artillery unit.

Additional insignia includes a finely woven SS Old Fighters chevron to the upper left sleeve, an impressive high-relief officer’s wire arm eagle on the upper right sleeve, and the flatwire officer’s cuff title for SS-Division “Deutschland” neatly affixed to the lower right cuff. The upper right breast displays five loops for a medal ribbon bar, with three sets of double loops below for awards or decorations. An Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon is present through the top front buttonhole.

Internally, the tunic is fully lined and features a tailor’s label from Spohn & Kaliber, Ulm. A dagger hanger is incorporated into the construction, complete with a reinforced slit through the lining to the lower right pocket. The condition is superb throughout—no moth damage, staining, or repairs, making this a museum-grade example of a pre-war SS officer’s field tunic with strong historical significance and excellent display potential.
