An important and historically significant archive from the estate of SS Obersturmbannführer Karl Schulz (7 February 1905 – 2 February 1989). An early right-wing activist, Schulz joined the Freikorps Marine Brigade Ehrhardt in 1920 and was involved in National Socialist operations in the Ruhr region. A founding NSDAP member in Gruppe Hamm and later SA man, he experienced both promotions and demotions during the political turmoil of the late 1920s and early 1930s. After joining the SS in 1932, Schulz was dismissed from his full-time police role but ultimately rose to command the 19th SS Regiment, also serving as a deputy in the Reichstag.

From 1938–1940 he held leadership responsibility within the occupied Polish city of Łódź (Litzmannstadt). His early NSDAP Party number 22,175 and SS membership number 15,838 confirm his long-standing senior involvement within the regime.

Around 2010, a substantial amount of surviving material from Schulz’s estate was uncovered in Germany and subsequently dispersed. We secured and have gradually released a large portion of his original documentation over recent years — these remaining 55 items are the final group we have available.

The material reflects Schulz’s deep personal allegiance to Adolf Hitler and the ideological mission of the NSDAP. Contents include:

• Numerous letters to and from Schulz concerning regional Gau authorities
• Correspondence from his period in Litzmannstadt
• Multiple handwritten personal notes in Schulz’s own hand
• A small number of post-war related items (approx. three)
• SS-headed letter from Oberabschnitt Mitte dated November 1935
• Patriotic postcards and political imagery
• Reichstag-headed letters dated 1934
• Various propaganda leaflets
• Handwritten envelopes
• 1941 letter about property requisitioning in Litzmannstadt
• 1942 documentation concerning raising a local Volkssturm unit
• Postcard featuring Dr. Robert Ley issued by the Ordensburg political training school at Sonthofen (1937)
• Full handwritten letter and envelope from Schulz

A rarely offered and exceptionally documented grouping, providing valuable insight into the personal career and administrative activities of a committed mid-level SS political figure.
