German WWII Spanish Cross in Silver Without Swords

A scarce example of the Spanish Cross in silver without swords, the rarest class of the series with only 327 awards made. The distorted pin and honest wear strongly suggest this piece was one of those few actually worn on a uniform.

Beautifully made in deep convex form, with excellent detailing to the Luftwaffe eagle. Traces of old cleaning residue remain within the arms of the Maltese-style cross and around the inner circlet of the swastika, consistent with age and handling. A genuine, service-worn example of an exceptionally rare decoration.
