A Q64-manufactured Model 40 helmet retaining much of its original paint finish, with wear and loss to the three liner rivet heads. The shell shows significant battle damage, including two indentations to the crown and a large impact to the rear, likely from shrapnel or a glancing round. Additional minor abrasions are present overall. The Army decal remains visible with abrasions and has toned from its original silver to a gold hue, though not to the depth associated with Kriegsmarine examples.

The interior retains its original M.40 liner, with all eight tongues intact and darkened to a deep tan shade, still fitted with its original drawstring. The chinstrap is complete but fragile, having broken at the centre while both sections remain attached. The inner rear skirt bears the hand-painted name of the original owner, H. Brein.
