An exceptional example by the unusual maker F.E.D. Ohliger of Solingen. The piece retains all of its original cross-grain finish, characteristic of early construction, with heavy nickel grip mounts. The lower grip mount is marked ‘NH’ for the Niederrhein area. The wood grip shows minor indentations but retains a nice quality pattern, and the SA enamel inset is undamaged. The high-quality national eagle remains crisp and well-defined.
Fitted into its correct scabbard with matching heavy nickel mounts at the upper and lower sections, the scabbard retains a good degree of its original brown anodising, with some natural spidering visible from the steel below. Complete with a very nice leather strap, fully functioning with its spring intact.
