A very nice early model 33 man's dagger with blade by the maker of Solinger Axt-Und Hauerfabrik, the maker themselves are scarce. Good blade with much original cross-grain finish remaining. On the reverse side, a five-word-long inscription in the same style as the Ernst Rohm dedicated daggers reading ‘TREUE UND TREUE IHRE BRIGADFÜHRER’. Good early nickel hilt fittings, undamaged wood grip with just minor indentations, high-quality national eagle and undamaged SA inset. Marked ‘SA Gruppe WF’ to the reverse of the lower cross guard. Fitted into its original scabbard with matching fittings to the scabbard, with much of the original brown anodising remaining, with some original lacquer. Complete with its leather hanger, on which the spring-loaded clip is still working correctly. All the screws are intact for the scabbard fittings, with the lower ball just having a very minor indentation. Although the dagger is not identified, it is believed that this dagger was presented to SA Brigadeführer Friedrich Escher, in group Westfalia, as marked on the lower cross guard. Escher took over the Police control of Ludenscheid in 1933. A rare dagger.
