A very nice saddle-shaped visor cap for a Red Cross official, completely free of moth holes with just a small area of light tracking to the nap on the crown. The cap features grey piping to the crown and both edges of the grey centre band. The enamel Red Cross badge remains untouched, and the national wreath retains its original frosted acorns. Fitted with the correct leather chinstrap. The interior has an undamaged, unmarked centre celluloid lozenge, with size ‘56’ stamped to the upper inner russet-brown waterproof lining. The original sweatband shows only minor use at the forehead, with one of the owner’s initials pinned to the band. Housed in its original travelling box with the maker Fritz App print-blocked to the lid. A superb and complete example.
