German WWII Red Cross Officers Display Piece with Straps

From a collection originally acquired in the Channel Islands of Great Britain in the 1970s. The piece retains nearly all of its original cross grain finish, with only minor staining near the lower section. The cast cross guard and upper pommel preserve all of their plating, a notable feature since plating on these areas is often very thin and prone to wear. The orange grip is in good condition, showing one minor chip near the upper section and some slight staining on the left side, otherwise intact. The original brown leather washer remains fitted between the main body and the cross guard.

The scabbard shows a significant indentation near its lower end and has lost much of its finish. It features round apertures for the strap attachment, rather than rectangular ones. This piece comes complete with a set of Red Cross officers straps with oval buckles, though one sprung-loaded clip has lost its flexible section.
