German WWII Panzer Officer’s Visor Cap

A very well-preserved Panzer officer’s visor cap, likely size 60, featuring double Erel markings. The cap boasts an Erel lower vented central cockade and is constructed from the highest quality cloth, showing no signs of moth damage. The cloth nap remains superb, complemented by a bright pink Waffenfarbe.

Fitted with a matching stamped aluminium national eagle and Erel vented cockade, alongside standard officers’ cap cords, this example reflects mid to late war Erel manufacture. An Ersatz substitute leather sweatband is present, clearly silver Erel stamped, though with some slight loss of lettering on the trademark below the central celluloid lozenge. Additional faint markings from a Vienna retailer are also visible beneath the lozenge.

The interior is lined with gold fabric, exhibiting minor creasing to the ersatz sweatband. A folded paper insert has been placed beneath the sweatband to provide a slightly snugger fit. The cap maintains a pronounced high saddle shape typical of the period.
