This is a pair of stitch-in style shoulder boards for a Leutnant serving within a Panzer unit. The boards show significant signs of field use and wear, giving them a distinct character reflective of active service.
The boards feature the pink waffenfarbe underlay specific to the armoured branches. Due to heavy wear, the pink cloth has worn through at the edges in several places, making the internal metal stiffening frame visible. Each board is fitted with a gothic P cypher, which was the designation for Panzer units. The finish on these cyphers has dulled over time, matching the overall patination of the silver wire tops.
These are service-worn items that would have been removed from a combat tunic.
