A superb example of a high-quality, high-saddle shaped officer’s visor cap worn by a Panzer Grenadier officer. The cap features the distinctive apple green Waffenfarbe and is constructed from a slightly coarser wool, giving it the rugged appearance often associated with front-line wear.
There is minor moth tracking to the central green band and beneath the rear overhang, but no serious damage. The front is fitted with a sharp, well-matched set of Wehrmacht eagle and cockade insignia. The overall shape is highly impressive and retains excellent structure.
Internally, the wide, heavily grained grey leather sweatband shows signs of honest service wear. The cap is lined in grey satin, still bright and clean in protected areas, though the upper crown exhibits staining and unusual rust marks, likely from prolonged contact with hair oils and moisture. A folded strip of paper, placed by the original wearer to adjust the fit, remains tucked inside—adding a personal and untouched detail to the cap's history.
Maker marked ‘Josef Seltz of Landau’ and size stamped ‘58’ to the inside of the sweatband. A fine and characterful officer’s cap with strong shape, maker attribution, and combat service feel.
