An exceptionally rare pair of Waffen-SS camouflage trousers in the oak leaf pattern herringbone twill, showing extensive yet expertly executed restoration. The lower section of the trousers, from the crotch down, remains original and in excellent, undamaged condition.
The upper portion has undergone significant reconstruction due to the scarcity of this pattern. A panel of matching blurred-edge oak leaf herringbone material has been inserted at the lower right thigh, while the upper area near the waistband has been rebuilt using fabric from a pair of original army green herringbone trousers. This work has been completed to a high standard, restoring the garment’s overall structure and form while maintaining visual integrity. These modifications are clearly visible in the supporting web imagery.
Due to the extreme rarity of original oak leaf camouflage items, this level of careful restoration was considered justified. Recently acquired from one of the most respected private collections in the UK, which includes extensive holdings in Army tropical, Waffen-SS, and Luftwaffe paratrooper kit. The collection was established in the early 1980s and reflects over four decades of dedicated research and collecting, culminating in the publication of authoritative works on the subject.
