This is an exceptional example of a visor cap for an official serving at the Gauleitung level, the second-highest administrative tier of the party organization. This level of administration was responsible for a large geographical district, roughly equivalent to a state or province. The cap is in a state of preservation that is remarkably close to its original issued condition.
The cap is constructed from high-quality golden-brown ribbed material with a dark brown velvet centre band. It features the distinctive wine-red piping to the crown and both edges of the centre band, signifying the Gau level of administration. The gilt finish on the eagle and wreath insignia remains bright, and the enamel on the central cockade is entirely undamaged. The cap is fitted with gold-coloured chin cords secured by matching side buttons and features a flexible, leather crushable-style peak.
The interior is lined with golden-brown rayon and includes a complete, undamaged celluloid lozenge. The lozenge is silver-imprinted with the patent mark Stirndruckfrei Deutsche Reich Patent, indicating a pressure-free forehead design. The mid-tan leather sweatband is fully intact and retains the original canvas RZM acceptance label stitched beneath it. While not explicitly size stamped, the cap fits approximately as a size 58 or 59. This example is free from moth damage, staining, or visible imperfections, representing a premier piece of political headgear.
