A true barn-find example of an M40 combat helmet with original Normandy camouflage. Although the size and maker stamps have unfortunately been lost to corrosion, and the batch number is present but illegible, the helmet retains a strong and evocative presence.
A good proportion of the original tan, green, and brown camouflage finish remains visible, particularly across the crown and one side. The opposing side has suffered heavier corrosion, suggesting the helmet lay on that side for decades.
Fitted with its original leather liner—missing one tongue and with another detached but present—along with the original drawstring still in place. The chinstrap is also original to the helmet. Based on the interior fit, we estimate the liner size to be approximately 56.
A very atmospheric example of a Normandy-camouflaged helmet, showing genuine signs of field use and long-term storage.
