A fine and well-preserved example of a Third Reich period naval officer’s display piece. This is a true depot-issued model — far rarer than the more commonly encountered Weimar-era types often misrepresented as Third Reich issue. The plated, plain, pipe-backed surface remains excellent and is marked E. & F. Hörster, Solingen, with a clear Third Reich eagle stamp to the upper section.
The grip, of imitation ivory, shows only minor surface cracks and retains all its grip wire intact. The lion’s head hilt, without glass eyes, displays fine detail, while the small folding shell guard bears the East Sea number O.2153, and the opposite larger guard remains fully functional. The leather scabbard is in excellent condition with only light abrasions, and the drag of the lower mount is clearly Third Reich marked.
