GERMAN WWII NAVY OFFICERS DISPLAY PIECE

A very nice condition sword for the Third Reich Naval officer, the swords of the Third Reich Navy were either depot-issued or privately purchased. This example has the correct markings of a Third Reich depot issue sword. On many occasions, Weimar period swords are offered for sale as Third Reich period swords; the eagle design is different. Of course, many serving Weimar period officers carried their swords into the Third Reich era. It is very difficult to find an actual Third Reich depot-issued and marked sword. Excellent plated plane piped back blade, marked E and F Horster Solingen, Third Reich eagle and swastika stamp on the upper part of the piped back blade. The Third Reich mark is clearly on the drag of the lower scabbard mount. slight cracks to the imitation ivory grip, the lion's head hilt without glass coloured eyes, all grip wire complete, to the small folding shell guard, the East Sea number of O.2153, the opposite side larger folding guard still in full operation. Excellent leather to the scabbard with some light abrasions.
