A scarce and very attractive example of the Polizei Bergmütze, the only M43-style field cap worn by Police Mountain Units. This non–size-stamped cap measures approximately size 55 by fit. Constructed in standard police green cloth with lighter green piping encircling the crown. Single ventilation hole to each side.
Fitted with the correct one-piece Bevo-woven police eagle with cockade above, and the classic twin-button front. To the left side is the distinctive mountain edelweiss badge featuring a black swastika centre. One small moth nip is present to the left side when worn.
The interior features a leather forehead sweatband showing noticeable service wear. Lined in brushed cotton, with the original owner’s name label—Hartmut Pfeiffer—stitched to the inner crown. The cap contains an internal layer of waterproof sheeting, producing a slight crackle when the lining moves. Adjacent to the name label is faint ink stamping, the lower word clearly reading POLIZEI, with the upper wording indistinct.
A very rare and highly desirable example of Polizei mountain troops headgear.
