This is a magnificent German WWII Mountain Troop Officer's Visor Cap, in exceptional condition and approximately size 57. The cap features a high saddle shape, a defining characteristic of high-quality officer headgear, and is adorned with the green Waffenfarbe unique to the mountain troops, symbolizing their elite status. The cap is made from a very high-quality material, with no moth damage anywhere, preserving its pristine appearance.
It is fitted with a complete matching set of insignia, including the national eagle, the mountain troops Edelweiss, and the national cockade. All insignia match in both color and construction, adding to the authenticity and value of this cap. The standard officer's cap cording is present, further highlighting its quality.
Inside, the cap is fitted with an ersatz sweatband. While the imitation leather light tan color has faded somewhat over the base canvas, the sweatband remains intact, with only a small tear in the forehead area. The rest of the interior is beautifully lined in gold, showcasing its excellent craftsmanship. The center of the lining features an undamaged celluloid lozenge with a silver-embossed triangle, bearing the name "FLITE" of the retailer or manufacturer.
This visor cap represents the elite nature of the German mountain troops during WWII. Its excellent condition, high-quality construction, and well-preserved insignia make it a standout addition to any collection of WWII military artifacts.
