A well service used large size M.43 enlisted man's field cap. Constructed in the slightly darker shade of field grey green than normally encountered, this can be seen with much wear. It is a late war production, within the cloth can be seen elements of the substitute materials used to create the cloth. All of the stitching has turned a light cream. The nap is very thin on the exposed areas. On turning down the side curtains, the original colour and nap are evident. Two celluloid buttons. Fitted with the one-piece eagle and cockade triangular form army insignia. One minor moth nip to the rear of the cap. Fully lined in a tan lightweight canvas material, with some degradation to the lining material in the upper inner crown area. The material used for lining the inside of the visor has softened due to continuous use in damp conditions. Although the size was not stamped on the test, we would believe size 58.
