German WWII M43 Field Cap

A well service-worn large size M43 enlisted man’s field cap, showing the unmistakable character of a late-war issue. Constructed in the slightly darker shade of field grey-green often associated with 1944–45 production, the fabric contains visible traces of substitute fibres typical of the period. The exposed areas show light wear with the nap thinned, while the inner folds reveal the original rich colour and texture.

The cap retains its original two celluloid buttons and one-piece Bevo-woven eagle and cockade insignia in the triangular configuration. A small, unobtrusive moth nip is present to the rear. Fully lined in lightweight tan canvas, the interior shows clear evidence of long service, with some degradation to the crown lining and softening to the visor lining from extended field use in damp conditions. Though not size stamped, it measures approximately size 58.
