German WWII M16 Double Decal Police Helmet

A scarce and increasingly difficult-to-find example of the M16-style helmet reissued during the Third Reich era for police use. Originally an Austrian shell, this helmet retains both of its police decals, each showing only minor abrasions consistent with age and service. The exterior finish shows areas of surface rusting, but a good amount of the original paint remains visible, as detailed in our accompanying images.

The interior features the correct metal-banded three-pad liner, fully intact aside from the front pad, which has the tips of its two tongues broken away. All three liner pads retain their original inner horsehair cushions. Chinstrap is absent. A fine representative piece of a rare transitional helmet with genuine period character.
