A scarce and highly desirable example of a 1939 dated four-pocket Tuchrock tunic, worn by an Obergefreiter (Senior Lance Corporal) at a Luftwaffe War School. The uniform is of good proportions and boasts a fantastic quality material with an excellent overall nap, indicating minimal long-term wear.

The tunic retains its original insignia: yellow wool-piped shoulder boards stitched in with very fine embroidered 'KS' lettering, correctly denoting Kriegs Schule (War School). The collar is heavily piped with yellow twisted cord, matching the yellow wool collar patches which bear three gulls to each patch, signifying the rank of Obergefreiter. A machine-embroidered Luftwaffe breast eagle is fitted, and the rank patch for Obergefreiter is present on the right-hand sleeve.

Despite its overall quality, the piece displays minor service and age flaws that add character: one small moth hole is present on the right-hand sleeve, another above the lower left-hand pocket flap, and one more on the fold of the open-style collar. There is also a small, period-style patched repair over moth damage next to the lowest closure button.

Additional features include deep barrel cuffs, a single rear vent, and loops for one award. The interior lining of Luftwaffe-style blue-grey cotton is fully stamped with size markings and carries the important Luftwaffe acceptance stamp 'L.B.A.(S).39', confirming its 1939 manufacture date. This is a fine representative example of an increasingly difficult-to-find pre-war Luftwaffe training uniform.
