One of the most difficult of all of the uniforms of the Luftwaffe to obtain is the dedicated tropical combat tunic. This should always be distinguished from the Luftwaffe blue herringbone twill work tunic; the weight of the material and the grain are identical to those of army tropical tunics. The construction is of a 6-button front, two upper pockets with pleats and flaps, and two lower pockets of the bellow type without pleats. The insignia fitted is a nice set of the correct heavyweight ( not Shirt ) NCO silk yellow piped slip-on shoulder boards. Some slight looseness of the thread holding the tress to the base of one of the shoulder boards. An enlisted ranks quality machine embroidered breast eagle. Markings to the inside are faint but visible; there is an indistinct manufacturer's mark, a clearer Luftwaffe ‘L.B.A.S41’ acceptance stamping with good, clear tunic measurements. To belt supports are fitted. The correct bandage pocket. The tunic has faded in sections, which can be seen from our web images. The main fading is on the lower back panel and on the lower sleeves. We believe that the tunic has been washed and dried, folded, and that is possibly the reason for the lighter colours.
