An unusual and very well-preserved example of a Q66 Luftwaffe single decal helmet, with nearly all of its original paint finish intact. The rear liner retaining rivet has lost its paint completely, while the other two rivets show minor abrasions around their edges. The helmet is batch number stamped ‘CN 258’.
The interior liner remains bright light tan with its original drawstring and standard M.40 zinc outer band. One tongue is stamped size ‘58’, but a section of darker leather was added during construction to bring the liner to a size 61. Inside the liner, heavy stamping shows the RB number, new size ‘61’, a second RB number, and ‘7-43’, with slight ink bleeding onto the liner exterior.
Externally, the Luftwaffe eagle decal is intact except for a small loss at the tip of the eagle’s tail.
