A very unusual interior to this helmet. The helmet shell is a Q66, having very close to all original paint finish remaining; the paint has disappeared completely from the rear liner retaining rivet head, and the other two rivet heads have small abrasions around the edge of the heads. The helmet is batch number stamped ‘CN 258’. The interior liner is still with all of its bright light tan colour and its original drawstring. Standard M.40 zinc outer band. One of the tongues is stamped size ‘58’ however as can be seen in our web images there is one section that has been inserted at the time of construction of this helmet in a darker shade of leather to bring it up to a size 61, on opening the liner out heavily stamped inside is the RB number, the new size of ‘61’ with a second RB number, followed by ‘7-43’, the ink of the RB number has slightly flooded onto the exterior of the liner. To the exterior, at the very point of the tail of the Luftwaffe eagle, the decal has broken away.
