A well-preserved enlisted ranks visor cap for a Luftwaffe Signals unit, retaining strong form and detail. Made from high-quality cloth with a high saddle shape, the cap shows one small moth nip to the crown and two more near the upper edge of the mohair centre band, close to the brown waffenfarbe piping. Fitted with an early short-winged droop-tail eagle and national cockade, along with the standard chinstrap and double-edged front peak.
The interior features russet brown brushed cotton lining, with the silvered maker’s mark for ‘Karl Halfer’ still visible beneath the undamaged celluloid lozenge. The orange head cushion has hardened and deteriorated with age. A name label for the original owner is still affixed to the sweatband, identifying him as a member of 7th Company, Signals Regiment 3. Additional unit stampings are present inside, including one clearly dated ‘August 1937’. A good, well-marked and characterful example.
