GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE OFFICERS VISOR CAP

A nice condition, very large size Luftwaffe officers cap, non-size stamped but on test probably 58 or 59, constructed in the standard Luftwaffe blue grey ribbed material, no moth damage on the cap anywhere. Good high saddle shape. Silver waffenfarbe to the crown and to the upper and lower sections of the mohair centre band. A very nice matched set of Luftwaffe eagle and cockade, the eagle being of the slightly earlier droop-tailed version, with its standard officers' cap cords. The fibre peak has the most commonly encountered type of peak on the Luftwaffe caps, being double-edge ribbed. To the interior grey cotton lining. The stitching is visible where a centre celluloid lozenge once fitted, but has been removed. The nice light tan leather sweatband shows evidence of a fair amount of wear in the forehead area, the remaining parts of the sweatband having mostly original colour. Two slight tears to the sweatband itself. It is recommended that, although the sweatband is nice and strong, not be pulled down to view the interior, where one would possibly think there may be a name, if this is done, the existing tears in the sweatband will get worse. A nice original Luftwaffe officer's visor cap.
