GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE OFFICERS CRUSHER CAP

In the Luftwaffe series of visors, M 43, and overseas caps, the officer's visor with a soft leather peak, known as the crusher, is very difficult to obtain. This example of the crusher on test would appear to be a size 55 or 56. Standard Luftwaffe officers' grained material, standard mohair centre band, silver wire embroidered eagle and cockade, with silver waffenfarbe around the crown and the upper and lower sections of the central mohair band. One moth nip just to the right of the tip of the Luftwaffe eagle, standard officers' cap cords, soft crushable peak. The interior is lined in gold satin, no maker’s logo or lozenge ever fitted or stamped. Grey leather sweatband, the original Cork cushion is in situ just behind the sweatband in the forehead area. A rare cap.
