A well-worn and characterful example of a Luftwaffe officer’s flight blouse, tailored for and worn by a Leutnant serving in the flying branch of the German Air Force. This medium-sized tunic remains in solid condition, showing honest service use with no moth damage. One area of wear to the lower rear right sleeve has been period-repaired with hand stitching by the original owner.
Constructed in the standard flight blouse style, it features two angled lower pockets without flaps, a fly front, and an open collar. The blouse is fitted with yellow branch-piped shoulder boards, hand-stitched in place, and matching yellow-based bullion collar tabs indicating the rank of Leutnant. An early droop-tailed Luftwaffe breast eagle is hand-applied, paired with a bullion wire Luftwaffe pilot’s badge sewn directly to the breast, both in matching, service-worn condition.
A short length of Iron Cross ribbon is present in the upper buttonhole. In a practical field modification, the original large Luftwaffe front closure buttons have been replaced by the wearer with smaller silver pebble-finished buttons from the standard four-pocket tunic, likely for ease of fastening.
A fine, untouched example of a flight blouse that clearly saw active use, offering strong authenticity and display appeal.
