A well-preserved and highly desirable example of a German WWII Luftwaffe M40 single decal combat helmet, featuring a size Q66 shell with lot number 10407. The helmet retains approximately 90% of its original combat paint, showing only minor rust bleed at the rear and crown—typical signs of age and storage rather than heavy field use.

The Luftwaffe eagle decal remains clear and well-defined, with three small abrasions visible but not detracting from its overall presentation. This is the classic mid-war Luftwaffe configuration, with a subdued blue-grey finish and single decal format.

Inside, the original liner shows strong colour and has seen light use, with some creasing and collector-applied reinforcement to four of the eight liner tongues. One tongue is stamped with the size “58” and the original drawstring is still in place. The leather chinstrap is in near mint condition, soft and complete with all fittings.

Adding further character and provenance, the liner bears the name and address of the American soldier who captured the helmet during the war, tracing its post-war journey to Wichita Falls, Texas.

A clean, original, and very collectible example of a Luftwaffe combat helmet, enhanced by both its strong condition and its traceable history.
