German WWII Luftwaffe M.43 Officer’s Peak Field Cap

A possibly privately tailored M.43 officer’s field cap, constructed from enlisted rank materials. The cap features silver officer’s piping to the crown, some of which shows light oxidisation.

The eagle is an early narrow wing, droop-tailed style, with some missing strands and oxidisation. The bullion wire cockade below is in better condition, likely protected by the double-button side curtains. There is no moth damage present.

A metallic Edelweiss badge is mounted on the left-hand side.

The interior has an ersatz mid-brown sweatband fitted. The remainder of the lining is a standard tailor’s striped sleeve lining, with a noticeable colour difference between the exposed lining and the section covered by the sweatband.

An original owner’s name is handwritten in red indelible pencil on the upper inner crown, though unfortunately the name is illegible.
