A fine medium-size Luftwaffe four-pocket service tunic, tailored in the classic Luftwaffe blue-grey grained material. The tunic shows light, even fading from sun exposure, with the original deeper shade of blue-grey preserved beneath the collar and pocket flaps.
Fitted with untouched yellow wool-based Leutnant shoulder boards, one with a single button for the attachment of parade aiguillettes. The bullion collar patches show light service wear, with silver piping to both collar and patches, and one bullion seagull denoting the rank of Leutnant. An excellent Luftwaffe officer’s wire-woven breast eagle remains firmly applied.
The tunic follows the standard configuration with deep turned-back cuffs and four pleated pockets with scalloped flaps. Loops are present for a short medal ribbon bar and three decorations. To the interior, a tailor’s loop has been added above the tailored hole for suspending a sword or dagger. The inside pocket retains its original tailor’s label from Wilhelm Thiele of Munich, with the officer’s name and date 10.1.42 clearly inscribed. Lining throughout remains complete and undamaged, with no evidence of moth.
