German WWII Luftwaffe Flight Section Cap

A rare Luftwaffe enlisted man’s/NCO’s visor cap with yellow piping for flight units, size 56 cm, produced by the scarce maker HTC with their patented Frischluft ventilation system. The cap displays an excellent high saddle shape, the crown and upper body completely free of moth damage, tracking, or staining. The waffenfarbe shows moth nips—six to the crown piping and more extensive to the two lower bands—though most are to the rear, leaving the front visually clean.

The interior is lined in blue artificial silk with a clear and undamaged celluloid lozenge marked with the Frischluft trademark and wording. The light tan substitute material sweatband shows storage staining, with one complete tear to the forehead area and two cracks at the sides where the peak joins—damage caused by handling over time. The peak itself has a double ribbed edge, a style often found on Luftwaffe caps.

Fitted with a slightly unusual chinstrap, matched one-piece stamped aluminium eagle and cockade. Despite the moth damage to the piping, the rarity of the HTC maker and its ventilation system makes this an exceptional piece.
