German WWII Luftwaffe Field Division Cap

A very fine and exceptionally rare example of a Luftwaffe Field Division visor cap, featuring the light apple green waffenfarbe—undoubtedly the most difficult of the Luftwaffe colours to obtain. Non-size stamped but test-fitted at approximately size 56, this is a private purchase quality cap produced by Erel, constructed from high-grade Luftwaffe blue-grey cloth.

The distinctive apple green piping stands out sharply on the crown and the upper and lower edges of the mohair centre band. There is no moth damage to any part of the cap, with only one or two minor nicks present on the mohair band. Fitted with a matching set of bright aluminium Luftwaffe eagle and cockade, along with a standard double buckle chinstrap. The fibre peak is of the standard double-ribbed type commonly encountered on Luftwaffe caps for both officers and enlisted men.

The interior features a mid-tan leather sweatband, soft and supple, showing clear signs of wear. The crown lining is in gold satin, and the cap retains its complete celluloid centre lozenge, though it is considerably stained. Faint traces of the Erel trademark remain visible beneath the celluloid.
