A rare and highly collectible Luftwaffe-issued chronograph, produced by Tutima of Glashütte. During World War II, only two manufacturers supplied chronographs to the Luftwaffe: Tutima and Hanhart, with Tutima examples being the scarcer of the two. This example is numbered ‘207161’, referenced in Konrad Knirin’s Military Watches & Clocks (1998, p. 214).
The dial remains clear, with all numerals visible and the “Glashütte” name and Tutima “T” logo intact, though naturally toned with age. The chronograph is missing its second hand but keeps excellent time, and all functions—including the small seconds and flyback—operate correctly. The adjustable ring is currently jammed. The watch is fitted with a military-coloured early plastic strap; original issue watches would have been supplied with brown leather straps.
This is a historically significant piece for collectors of military timepieces. Minor servicing and a replacement second hand are recommended for full functionality. Previously, a similar Tutima chronograph sold for over £5,000, reflecting the rarity and desirability of this model.
