German WWII Luftwaffe Bergmütze

An excellent example of a Luftwaffe Bergmütze, constructed in the standard enlisted man’s blue-grey wool cloth. The material retains a strong nap with no moth damage or repairs. The front features the correct machine-embroidered Luftwaffe eagle above a national cockade, both applied to matching blue-grey backing cloth. Two pebbled silvered buttons secure the front flap, characteristic of this mountain cap style.

The interior is lined in blue-grey-brown cotton and is profusely stamped ‘Deutsche Sekleidungs-Werkstätten’ with an RB number, a faint date ‘1943’, and size marking ‘56’. Fitted with the standard short peak typical of the Bergmütze. A fine, well-preserved wartime example showing only light service use.
