An ultra-rare matched set of red silk-piped, black-centred shoulder boards for a Waffen-SS Unterscharführer in the Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler.
The NCO lace shows slight oxidisation on one of the boards. The LAH motifs, typically supplied as slip-ons, have been cut by the wearer and stitched to the centre of each board. Minor differences between the LAH logos indicate they were selected from separate bundles.
The boards retain their slip-on tabs, which have been cut on the reverse side with either a knife or scissors, consistent with removal from a tunic. The original securing button remains in place, sewn to a small section of original uniform cloth to which the board is still attached.
